Nikita Vick has spent a career developing her network and it was this that led to the launch of Turnaround Staffing. Turnaround is a boutique agency servicing NSW & VIC across a wide range of industries in both temp and perm roles. As Nikita explains:
"We really are a one-stop shop. We can recruit for anything. If we know the brief and what you want, we can fill it. It’s all about understanding our clients needs and that’s what we do so well."
Within just one year, Turnaround Staffing has established itself as a trusted partner for clients across various industries, thanks in no small part to the essential support from APositive.
Nikita's story: From receptionist to owner
Nikita’s journey into recruitment began 22 years ago, almost by accident. She recalls:
"I walked into a recruitment agency one day looking for a job. I was hired as a receptionist. I was 17 at the time. By 21 I was a branch manager. I did that for a few years and went from there."
Her early experiences laid the foundation for her future endeavours. The relationships she built over the years led to the creation of Turnaround Staffing. "I've had my clients for a really long time. The big thing in our industry is relationships. That's what I've built Turnaround on."
Establishing Turnaround Staffing
Turnaround Staffing was founded with a clear mission: to be a one-stop shop for all recruitment needs. Nikita explains:
"We can recruit for anything—blue collar, white collar, temp, and perm. Most of our business is temp, but we do perm for those clients as well."
The agency serves a broad range of industries, with a focus on transport and logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, engineering and construction.
The role of APositive in Turnaround's success
Launching a business comes with its challenges, especially when it involves unfamiliar territories. For Nikita, one such area was payroll management. "I had never worked with a payroll company before. I'd never done anything like that at all. I would say the transition was very smooth," Nikita shares:
"In our industry, agencies can lose candidates because of payroll issues. Not being paid properly or pay issues. It was a big thing to have that right from the get-go."
APositive played a crucial role in ensuring a seamless payroll process for Turnaround Staffing. "Even now, there really never are any pay issues. This is the only part of the business I outsource."
In addition, Turnaround make use of APositive's finance product, AFinance. "We also use APositive's funding to fund our payroll. The outsourced payroll and the finance work together," Nikita explains that despite her initial apprehensions, the experience turned out to be positive.
"I had no experience with recruitment finance. It was an eye-opener for me, and it was scary. I was going in pretty blind. APositive made it very smooth, and I felt very safe with it all."
