Atmos Medical’s journey began with a casual coffee between co-founders Reece Percy and Matthew Said. While neither had a medical background, their shared experiences at a medical recruitment agency and mutual frustration with gaps in rural healthcare led to a bold decision: starting their own recruitment agency.
Reece explained, “It all started as a conversation over coffee. We were both high performers at our previous agency and had a friendship.” Their combined expertise and commitment to making a difference culminated in the founding of Atmos Medical in December 2022.
Reflecting on the venture, Reece said, “I came from a farming background, worked in a few different sales roles… there’s something really fulfilling about placing medical practitioners in rural and remote regions.”
Why Medical Recruitment?
For Reece and Matt, medical recruitment aligned naturally with their goals.
Reece remarked, “There’s a real shortage in the market for quality doctors, especially in rural hospitals.”
Beyond being a recession-proof industry, the pair was drawn to the meaningful impact they could have on underserved communities.
Reece shared: “It’s also a nice feeling helping some of these doctors that have come from quite a difficult pathway themselves and are finding it difficult to get roles in metro locations… there’s something really fulfilling about placing medical practitioners in rural and remote regions.”
